Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity uses a short video of a customer ordering lunch to practice listening comprehension, recalling details, and using polite conversational phrases. Use the video page to play the clip for the class, then have students complete the Think About It and Solve It pages individually or in pairs. Prepare by previewing the food vocabulary (hamburger, juice, ice cream) and practicing the phrase 'May I help you?' with students. For open-ended responses: A high-quality answer to 'Share one thing you learned' names a clear detail from the video (e.g., 'The customer ordered a hamburger, juice, and ice cream'). A high-quality answer to 'Share one question you still have' names a specific question about the video or vocabulary (e.g., 'What flavor of ice cream did they have?'). For the Show It prompt, a strong response shows the ordering process (photo role-play, short video ordering, or drawing with speech) and uses polite language; partial answers may mention only one part of the order or omit polite phrases. Teachers should grade open responses as correct if students accurately recall or demonstrate key details, or incorrect if responses show misunderstanding or do not address the prompt.
